Celebrating 25 Years of Belfast as A World Health Organization Healthy City

Agis Tsouros, WHO Regional Office for Europe is presented with Belfast's Letter of Interest to join Phase VI  of the European Healthy Cities network by Lord Mayor of Belfast Councillor Máirtín Ó Muilleoir and CEO of the Public Health Agency ahead of the celebration and awards event  on Friday 29 November 2013 at Belfast Harbour Office.

The Belfast Healthy Cities 25th Anniversary Awards were held recognise the wide range of activities and learning that tell the story of Belfast’s development as a World Health Organization European Healthy City. The award categories reflect the priority issues identified and addressed over the past 25 years.

Since 1988 Belfast has been a member of the World Health Organization (WHO) European Healthy Cities Network. Our mission is,through our leadership and innovation, to inspire and utilise the collective and individual strengths of partners to deliver the World Health Organization European Healthy City Phase V (2009-2013) goals and requirements and maximise their impact on health and inequalities.
